Welcome MESA Teacher Advisors!
MESA Teacher Advisors are critical to the success of the MESA Schools Program. You
provide fun, engaging, hands-on opportunities for students to explore science, technology, mathematics, and engineering college and career pathways. MESA provides academic support and preparation, enrichment opportunities, and career guidance to students, families, and partner schools in communities across Santa Cruz and Monterey counties. MESA Advisors are engaged in the program through:
- Teacher Professional Development: Various opportunities are offered throughout the year, such as MASME and monthly advisor meetings.
- MESA-Developed Curricula: The UCSC MESA Center provides MESA-developed curricula that reinforce state subject matter standards to help Advisors guide students through the design, building, and competition stages of MESA day projects.
- Academic Interns: The UCSC MESA Center recruits, hires, and trains talented undergraduate Academic Interns who are interested in STEM fields to assist Advisors and mentor MESA students through academic planning and college and career advising.
- MESA Program Format: The structure of MESA programs vary by school site. We partner with schools to best meet the needs of students through MESA school periods, after school clubs, and Saturday academies.
